Pro/CABLE is used to design
virtual
cables and harnesses in Pro/ENGINEER.Pro/CABLE allows you to route wires and
cables
through an assembly to determine routings and cable lengths, as well as cable tray sizes and locations.
Connectors, wire sizes, tie wraps, ferrite beads, etc. are all
specified in the cable and their locations determined. This information is then
passed on to Pro/HARNESS-MFG which flattens the cable and develops the nail board
necessary for manufacture of the harness. Pro/CABLE can be driven by
Pro/DIAGRAM,
which provides a circuit diagram and control of routing, or Pro/CABLE can stand alone and
develop the pin to pin connections at the time of routing.
Use of cable to design
harnesses allows engineers to completely develop a design in the virtual state, rather
than having to build prototypes and then route cables through the completed machine.
Virtual routing within your Pro/ENGINEER model can save hundreds of
