CNC Milling
CNC milling allows Pro/ENGINEER to
create g-code files that
control a CNC mill. The g-code is created by Pro/ENGINEER to create a part from a
piece of raw stock. Pro/ENGINEER can generate g-code that performs multiple
passes
with tool changes for roughing and finishing cuts, as well as control step length, scallop
size, milling profile, and other properties to optimize the cutting that is performed.
By utilizing this module, prototypes and tools can be generated directly from the
CAD data, providing exact matches of virtual part to physical part. Functional metal
prototypes can thus be directly generated, and used for validation and appearance reviews.
Tools cut directly
from CAD data produce parts that match the CAD geometry exactly, and in
a fraction of the time normally required for tooling. Example, for one
tooling project, cutting directly from the CAD data reduced tool delivery time from 42
weeks to 3 weeks, and saved our client $300,000.00.
