DESIGN
The Pro/MOLD DESIGN module is used in
the creation of injection mold tooling. Mold design understands
material properties
such as shrink and warp, as well as mold functions such as gating, runners, sprues, and
vents. Mold design allows the user to define a parting line and generate mold cores
and cavities directly from the part model. These can then be taken into the CNC
milling package and the tools can be cut directly from CAD, eliminating time and potential
errors. Mold design also includes tools for mold flow
analysis, which simulates the mold filling operation and can predict locations of air
pockets and weld lines, along with areas of poor fill. Combining these tools
together with your solid model designs will optimize the tooling process and greatly
reduce the time to market.
