The sheet metal module allows the
creation of sheet metal geometry, including bends, unbends, forms, rips, and blanks.
This module is immensely useful in the design of electronics enclosures and
cabinets. Parts can be designed in the formed state and then unfolded to develop a
blank for initial trimming. The software understands different materials and k-values and
uses these to correctly determine material stretch during bending for accurate blank
dimension creation. In addition, sheet metal parts can directly drive automated
manufacturing equipment, providing seamless integration with the shop floor.
Use of Pro/SHEET METAL has allowed us to take designs from concept to production in less than
three weeks, with all parts being right and fitting together the first time, no
prototyping.
